I bought this in late July 2009 and now its already broken. I can not find a way to contact them directly which amazon is telling me to do. The hinges are bent and broken. I read a lot, isn’t that the point of the kindle? I have not removed it from the case since I put it on. I used my Kindle for the first time in about 2 months and when I opened it, I saw the bottom hinge was bent and not sitting properly. I removed the kindle from the case and the other prong is bent as well.

It appears I have no recourse other than writing a review. This product didn’t last me 4 months.

It’s a great little cover, classy looking. Does its job. I just wish that the leather closing strap had a magnet button or a clasp of some type instead of just a hardened piece of leather that slides into a leather slot. I feel like as the leather wears the strap is going to be harder and harder to secure. A simple button or clasp of some kind would make this a much nicer and longer lived case.

    Appearance/Material-

Synthetic vs. Genuine Leather: This was the first question I had to answer because the price difference wasn’t a huge issue. Ended up getting this synthetic leather because it has the same strength as leather without the brittleness (After getting it, it appeared almost exactly like leather with smell and texture… they did a good job). Basically having all the best characteristics of leather without the negatives. Also for some people the synthetic will be your “cruelty free” choice, which is never a bad thing.

The inside is soft and well-made. I have not had it a long time, but it gives me the assurance that it will last.

    Portable-

The space to the left of where your Kindle sits is open for the use of the M-Edge light which can be purchased separately. Either way it serves as a nice extra barrier in case you drop it or it falls and lands on the side. You can know that it wont damage your Kindle (or the case). I would highly recommend the M-Edge e-Luminator light to get with this jacket, works great and takes up no extra room.

The Kindle and case together are relatively light-weight and rest in your hand well for excellent portability. I have also folded back the jacket and put the strap in backwards so that it stands up on the table for reading that way.

    Security-

The Kindle fits great inside the clips and straps for a snug fit. I made sure to shake it around a bit to test this out and it doesn’t move. Between the synthetic leather material and the snug fit of your Kindle inside with the soft interior, this is almost an insurance plan against accidental damage (but for those with kids, it hasn’t been tested against across room throwing). The strap is also well made and will hold up normal wear and tear as well as accidents.

I give it 5 stars for a reason and if you get one I’m sure you’ll be just as satisfied.

PS… 100x better than the Amazon cover

I have had this cover for my Kindle 2 for about 2 months now and I love it. It’s very durable, folds back easily on itself and feels nice to hold in my hand. I can’t wait for the light to come out, so I can fit it right in, but even without the light I really enjoy this cover. The only bad thing about it, is the fabric used on the inside, although it is soft, it feels like it could get pretty grubby over time. Mine isn’t bad yet, but even after only two months I can tell that it will probably be pretty bad down the road.

I bought this cover because I had the similar model for the K1. I love that my K2 fits securely in the slots and it is easy to hold while reading. It is a very attactive and functional cover. Even though it is synthetic leather it feels enough like the real thing that you won’t even notice. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a stylish but useful cover.
