I bought this recently, it just arrived. It is a functional, well-designed case, but either Amazon put the wrong image with the product, or they had some VERY bright lights aimed on it. Mine is a muddy brown where the red should be, with a lighter tan, the color of most leather items, where the orange strap should be. Both the label on it and the paper that came with it claim it is this case, “Pebbled Mocha w/ Saddle Strap”, so I was not shipped the wrong one. Don’t get me wrong, the case is sturdy, snug and well-built, but it doesn’t look anything like it should.

I’ve been using this cover for about a month now. I bought it because a review mentioned how it protected his Kindle after having been dropped and chewed on by a dog. It is, in fact, a very high-quality, well made leather cover with soft inside material and pockets. It uses the clips, but also has two corner holders for additional security, as other reviewers have noted. I certainly feel my Kindle is well-protected in my house full of kids and a dog. The only disadvantage is that it is rather heavy, and when opened, is quite a bit wider than the Kindle itself (at least an inch on one side, not so bad on the others). This can make it awkward to hold, although with use I have developed several comfortable holds. The leather strap also kind of flops around on the right hand side– you can tuck it under the case when reading, but it is occasionally annoying. That said, if you are looking for a good, solid, secure cover for the Kindle which can stand up to manhandling and heavy use, this is a great product.

I ordered the Brown leather with Saddle colored stripe. The leather is OK quality and the stitching appears well done. Color wise the center stripe is no-where near “saddle color” IMO. I expect “saddle” color to be a very light, almost yellowish tan. This turned out to be dark brown with lighter brown stripe. That was a bit disappointing. They could really improve upon the dye colors. It doesn’t look like richly died leather.
I’m not sure why they used the grey fabric interior rather than grey suede. It doesn’t appear that it will hold up well over time since the edges of the fabric are beginning to fray from where I’ve held it for just a few hours.
The Kindle fits snugly in the case but the case doesn’t easily fold back under for one handed reading. It has a lot of material in the hinge and creates a “squishy” bulge that tires my hand when trying to hold it to read. You have to continually squeeze the hinge. Which leads to my main complaint. The cover is underlain with some sort of padding which is quite thick. The padding makes you continuously squeeze the case to hold on which of course tires out the hand. I don’t think the kindle needs this padding, it simply needed a stiff faced cover to protect it.
I’ve only owned this one day so hopefully the cover hinge will limber up and the padding will degrade over time but sadly I’m not impressed after paying $50 including shipping. I haven’t had a chance to try the standard $29 Kindle cover. I bought the M-Edge because I also purchased the M-Edge light that fits in the case.

I love my Kindle 2 and I love the M-edge Prodigy Hinge Jacket in Pebbled Mocha with Saddle. I was concerned about carrying the Kindle around without a protective cover. After reading the reviews, I selected this cover and am very pleased with it. The jacket is well-made, nicely padded without being bulky, and fits well in my purse or briefcase. The leather feels nice and the stitching is well-done. Although the package did not include directions for fastening the Kindle onto the clips, a quick look at the M-edge website gave me simple instructions. Between the clips and the small straps on the upper and lower right sides of the cover, my Kindle fits very securely in the cover. Now, I don’t leave home without it! And I am eagerly awaiting the M-edge book light that will fit inside the cover and make it easy to read on planes, etc. A fabulous product that I recommend without hesitation.

I just got my Kindle2 a few days ago, and ordered with it this cover. It’s well made, the latches to secure the Kindle2 hold it securely in the cover, and the leather tongue fits snugly into it’s pocket to both hold it closed and to hold it open when the cover is folded behind for my ease of reading.
I highly recommend this cover. For me, it’s well worth the price and appears as though it will provide more than adequate protection for my new Kindle2.
