I thought the cover would make me think I was actually reading a book more, it does somewhat. I am still adjusting to not holding a “real” book.

I bought this case at Target, so thankfully returning it wasn’t a big hassle. I had a few problems with this case:
1) The hole for the USB cable isn’t in quite the right position, and when the cable is fully inserted, the case puts a lot of pressure on the cable/port. This isn’t a serious issue, but it does make me worry about the USB port a little. Worse-case is that you have to remove the kindle to charge it if this concerns you.
2) (NOTE: I found a Target that had more cases in stock, and none of them had this problem … it must not be common) When the case is sitting on a desk with the Kindle on its back, the cover doesn’t stay flat against the front of the kindle. Instead, the strength of the “binding” part causes the cover to hang in mid-air, half open, with the right-hand edge ~1.5 inches over the Kindle’s screen.
3) A problem that seems to be unique to the red version – I examined several of these cases, and all of the red ones that I saw exhibited a problem where the ‘cover’ curls back from the kindle on the outside corners. When I bought my case, it was minor, but after leaving it in a hot car a couple of times, it became serious, and caused the covers to separate from the plastic holder that the Kindle clips into … this caused my case to die. I suspect that this only happens in the red ones due to the choice of material – the red is a kind of nylon, while the black is a fake leather. I suspect that the nylon that’s on the red version puts tension on the outside of the cover, causing it to curl back.
4) Problem 3) eventually caused my case to break.
That being said, this case has a lot of great features. I love the stand, and the fact that it gives the kindle a very book-like feel. I find the kindle far more comfortable to hold when it’s installed in this case, especially when it’s folded around the back. In addition, the kindle clips into this case very securely, and since it doesn’t use the mounts on the side that many of the other cases use, there’s no worry about cracking your kindle. I highly recommend the black version – it’s great.

After reading many concerns about Kindle covers with a “hinge”, I opted for the red Speck Dust Jacket after seeing it at Target. I had read that the Kindle screens are very fragile, and although I bought the extended warranty, I was looking for a cover that would fill the bill. This one has done just that. It appears well made and I have not experienced the curling that was mentioned in another review. I’m a satisfied customer!

I bought this cover because I found it aesthetically pleasing and because I wanted a cover for my Kindle that would double as a stand. Based on this criteria, I’ve extremely happy with this product, though there are a few smaller issues that I have with it.
First off, I like the look and feel of this cover. The outside is padded, in a soft bright red fabric. A tab on the inside front cover is held closed by velcro, but extends to turn the cover into a reading stand. My Kindle sits at the perfect angle for handsfree reading. I also especially like the way my Kindle is held in the case. A shelf runs along the bottom of the case for the Kindle to sit in, while a small clasp grips the top left of the device. I really love how subtle these grips are and how they don’t interfere with the design or functioning controls of the Kindle. Anyone with a skin on their Kindle will appreciate this uncluttered design.
Despite how much I love this cover, there are still a few downsides. This cover is a bit thick and does add bulk to the slim device. Also, despite the hard covered spine, when in position as a stand the Kindle does pull down and sag the cover a bit on the right side. Also while in the stand position, there’s not quite enough space between the Kindle and the table top for the charger.
And finally: the only color choices are red and black. Can we have some more creative options please?

I bought this product from Target due to the fact that I like to put hands on a product before I buy. In store it was $28 and on here they are $18. I truly enjoy it and I love the fact that I can hold it like a book and that the kindle snaps into it and is very steady and rugged.
