I have had this Kindle cover for approximately 1 month now. I agree with most of the reviewers as it is stylish, is strong-smelling at first (but if you like the smell of leather it’s a good thing, ha ha), and seems quite durable.

It fits my Kindle 2 well, and it seems to be a secure hold to the unit. The only thing that is slightly disappointing is that I ALSO wanted to put a silicone cover on my kindle strictly to reduce the slipperiness of the unit and because I could change the colors on a whim. The silicone sleeves are cut with holes to accomodate hinge-holding kindle covers, but this particular cover appears to have too little clearance, so I cannot use the sleeve at the same time.

The only other inconvenience is that I don’t feel comfortable folding the cover back on itself so that I’m not holding the cover like a traditional book. I suppose you could if you forced the cover, but I want to keep it in excellent shape (both appearance and functionality).

If I could have an upgrade, it would be to have an alternate method of closing the little latch; maybe velcro or magnets…?

But, with these MINOR inconveniences, I get LOTS of compliments not only on my Kindle, but on the beautiful cover, and so far, my Kindle has remained safe and scratch-free.

Love it, the purple color is a very nice soft purple and it fits just right.

I’ve had my Kindle and this cover for a couple of months. This is a really good quality cover. This model comes in several colors. I’m sure all of them are the same quality. I chose the purple one, which is a classy purple, not carnival clown purple. It looks great. Nice outside leather and the inside lining is a nice neutral soft grey suede–or something like suede. Very gentle on your Kindle when you close it.

When I first read the reviews on this cover I was wondering how the heck this cover keeps the Kindle locked in. Well, if you’re wondering the same thing, do not fear. Kindle has some slots on the left side; and this book cover easily slips right in and locks it securely. And it’s easy to unlock, too.

Also, the little rubber bands on the top and bottom right-hand side are just there to add a little extra security. But believe me, the Kindle is locked in.

I like how I can hold my Kindle like a book when using this cover. The cover looks classy and it protects the Kindle. When I was looking for a cover I was also considering the model that has a strap. But I realized that it would probably just be a hassle and get in the way. And the one with a strap was more expensive, over $40. The Kindle is very secure in this cover.

If you want to transport it with you, you’ll probably need to put this in another bag or pouch to protect it from other things in your carry-on bags, purse or briefcase. I use Kindle at home mostly, but when I recently traveled on a plane, I put this in a plastic shopping bag that was about the same size–a bag like a small plastic Macy’s bag. I put it in my carry-on bag and didn’t have to worry about it getting dirty from other things in my bag. That was a quick fix, but I’ll probably get some kind of zipper pouch to put this into when I travel or commute.

If you want something that isn’t too bulky, that’s easy to hold and read, looks good and protects your Kindle, this is a great cover. I do not think the model with the strap is necessary–I think this one here works perfectly for my needs. I thought it was a little pricey, but it is defintely good quality and it protects my Kindle. And it is very attractive.

I debated getting this cover for my new Kindle 2 or getting one that has a closure. I decided to try this one because of the cost difference and I was unsure if the closure was really needed. I have no regrets with this cover. The quality is excellent and the color is very true to Amazon’s picture. I feel the Kindle is secure when in place and the cover protects the screen very well when it is crowded into my purse.

Not only does this cover secure your Kindle it looks good doing it. This is my second cover (and hopefully the last) I purchased. The first, (Amazon leather cover) was not secure at all. It kept coming loose from the hinges causing my Kindle to fall and break two months after my Kindle purchase (luckily I had the extended warranty). You won’t have that problem with this amazing cover as it has a really nice added feature which is the elastic strips that fit across the outside edges of the Kindle making it more secure.

The smell noted in previous reviews lasted a few days and was not that bad. It was a leathery smell.

The cover came with installation instructions which were very easy to understand, although it took a few tries to secure it to the hindges, but please don’t let that deter you from purchasing this wonderful cover.

I find the color, which is more of an eggplant, to be great.
