Love this cover. holds well in my hand. I have a tendency to turn it upside down when i am in bed to read because i use my left hand and like to keep my right hand free to hold my coffed or tea. you won’t be disappointed.

I had the easel tuff luv I think it is called cover for my DX but it kinda showed wear very early on. The final straw was when I fell asleep reading and when i woke up our puppy had taken the cover OFF and chewed it. I searched high and low for a durable yet nice looking cover and found this one. I like the purple color is is a deep rich dignifed purple. Purple is my favorite color and I was not disapointed. It fits more snuggly than the other cover and after a coupla month no puppy bite marks on it! I think it is built to withstand more than the other one and for me that is a huge plus. I am in chemo for advanced breast cancer and I take my Kindle to chemo. Everyone always comments on how nice the cover is. I am so glad I bought this I just wish I had bought it first!

This cover is great for the kindle… Its a nice Purple colour, and its comfortable because it stands on its own.

When I first bought my Kindle DX, I bought the standard issue Amazon Kindle DX Leather Cover (Fits 9.7″ Display, Latest Generation Kindle DX) and it has been very useful in most regards.

However, I decided I wanted to try the Platform Jacket because the Kindle DX could be set up for hands free reading. In addition, I liked the look of the M-Edge leather better and liked the different colors that were available.

Probably the most important question is which one does a better job protecting the Kindle? I would say it both covers provide comparable protection and neither one is significantly more or less secure than its competitor.

I also have to say that for looks and quality, I believe the M-Edge is a better cover. However, there are definitely things that could be improved to make this a five-star cover:

    Advantages of the M-Edge Cover:

    ——————————–

    1. Looks — I love the color and texture of the leather. The leather reminds me of Dooney Bourke AWL purses.

    2. Quality and feel of the leather

    3. Ability to have the Kindle “support itself” without having to constantly hold it.

Disadvantages of the M-Edge Cover: (things that that Amazon Cover does better)

    ———————————-

    1. The M-Edge strap is located right over port where the power supply would plug in so if you want to charge the Kindle, the cover has to be unstrapped and partially open to plug it in. The Amazon cover can be plugged in regardless of whether the cover is closed or open.

    2. The cover doesn’t fold back on itself as neatly as the Amazon Cover which has a softer spine designed to be bent back.

    3. The strap that holds the Cover closed gets in the way when the cover is open for reading. It is stiff and doesn’t fold backwards out of the way very comfortably.

    4. The M-Edge cover for the DX doesn’t use the hinge system to hold the cover in place and so the elastic straps required to secure the corners of the Kindle are not very “clean” looking. It seems secure enough but still would prefer the hinge locking mechanism.

In the end, I’ll despite the disadvantages of the M-Edge, I’m keeping it and will use it because I really like the ability to stand the Kindle up by itself while reading. However, I hope really hope that someone comes out with a comparable quality cover that uses the actual hinge mechanism that Amazon has devises for the Kindle DX.

My husband and I each purchased covers for our Kindles last week. I picked this Platform by M-Edge so it would look different than the Amazon Kindle DX Leather Cover that he purchased. I am returning this product and exchanging it for the Amazon version.

Pros: This is a very attractive cover. The leather looks and feels terrific. The stitching and other construction are well done. The liner material is soft.

Cons: It is heavy and bulky. With this cover, the Kindle weight is equivalent to a medium thickness hardback book. With the Amazon version, the weight is equivalent to a thick magazine or paperback book. The width is at least 1/2 inch wider than the Kindle. The extra width serves no useful purpose. The closure strap can be tucked underneath the Kindle when it is open, but it is awkward. If not tucked in, it flaps about. It is not as comfortable to hold in other-than-upright positions as the Amazon version.
